June 15 through August 24

Pre-K through Young Adult

Read, collect badges, and win prizes!

Participants can register at the library or online anytime

Stop by the library beginning June 15 to pick up your Summer Reading Bag and FREE BOOK.

Free library cards are available for all students.

How to Participate:

Step 1: Register for Summer Reading online or at the library, then pick up your bag and free book beginning June 15

Step 2: Use your logbook to keep track of everyday you read (you choose how much and what to read – anything counts – books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines)

Step 3: For every 7 days you read, come into the library to pick up a Badge and a PRIZE

Step 4: Stick the Badge on your trail map

Step 5: Attend events and complete scavenger hunt activities to earn Bonus Badges

Step 6: At the end of Summer Reading, trade your badges in for tickets for the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING

Final (and most important) Step: Read, explore, and have fun

Summer Reading Programming

The library will host special programs all summer to complement our theme of “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” – get outdoors – learn about the natural world around us! Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult

Wednesday Story Time with Peggy: We Love Animals! Come listen to stories about animals (Pre-K to 8 years old). Every middle Wednesday of the month: June 15, July 13, August 17, 2 p.m. at the library.

Special Program: Go Birding! Join local birders Hannah Buschert and Erik Ostrander for an introduction to birding (All ages). A limited number of binoculars will be available, but if you have your own, please bring them along. Monday, July 11, 1 p.m. at the City Park (weather permitting – check our website for weather contingency).

Special Program: Author Mindy Hardwick will discuss and read from her YA novel, “Some Stories are Not Seen” and then lead a creative workshop, “What’s in Your Bag?” (YA, All ages) Wednesday, August 10, 2 p.m. at the library.
