Date/Time: May 7, 2025 - 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Our Annual Membership Meeting is Wednesday, May 7th, 10 a.m. at the library. Join us for snacks and refreshments followed by a short business meeting, election of the Board of Directors, and presentation by local speakers Paul and Margo Dueber, who will talk about the local music scene. Come renew your membership for 2025-2026, as only paid members may vote. The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about library membership or listening to our speakers.

The Membership Meeting on May 7 will be more than a membership meeting; it will be our official Annual Meeting. The library is a nonprofit corporation registered with the State of Oregon as a “public benefit with members,” and, as such, is required to have an annual meeting. According to our bylaws, the May meeting is our annual meeting. The bylaws also specify that the members in our “public benefit with members” nonprofit elect board members and officers at the May meeting.

Board members serve two-year terms; terms are staggered so only half of the board stands for election each year. Officers serve one-year terms.

Five current board members are finishing the first year of their two-year terms; next year will be the second year of their current term so they are not on the ballot. They are Pam Crone, Mary Kerwin, Roger Neugebauer, Linda Sugano, and Peggy Thom. There are two vacancies on the board because Karen French and Amy Jones are stepping down. So the ballot for board membership will include two new names: Greg Findley and Nancy McCarthy.

Three current board members who are now finishing the second year of their current term are standing for election to another term beginning next year. Caroline Godderz, Claire Landrum, and Tammy Stewart will be on the ballot for board membership. There are four board officers who serve one-year terms. The members who will be on the ballot for officers are: President–Claire Landrum; Vice President–Mary Kerwin; Secretary–Caroline Godderz; Treasurer–Tammy Stewart. Our bylaws also specify that the most recent past board president serves on the board in an ex-officio capacity. That position is not subject to a vote.

MEET THE CANDIDATES:

Greg Findley and his wife Marilynn moved to Cannon Beach in 2021, after spending their first 12 years of retirement in Friday Harbor, Washington. He volunteered at the library in Friday Harbor, and has volunteered at our library since arriving in CB; primarily helping with the Fourth of July Book Sale. Greg enjoys golfing, reading, crossword puzzles and, especially, walking on our beautiful beach with Marilynn and their Golden Retriever Penny.

Nancy McCarthy is a long-time volunteer at the front desk and a member of the NW Authors Series and the Book Pricing committees. She helps to publicize the authors’ visits and other library events, volunteers at the Fourth of July book sale, and for the past seven years, she has hosted the annual Writers Read Celebration. A retired editor, Nancy served on the Cannon Beach City Council for eight years and edits the city’s Community Bulletin.

Closed Captioning
Closed captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments. Most of our website’s video content includes automated captions. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Volume Controls
Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features. Each video and audio service has its own additional volume controls. Try adjusting both your device’s volume controls and your media players’ volume controls to optimize your listening experience.
