Join us LIVE on Zoom with Northwest author Paula Butterfield! Paula will discuss her debut novel La Luministe, a historical fiction that captures the life of French impressionist artist Berthe Morisot. Berthe Morisot navigates family turmoil, gender inequality, thwarted love affairs, and the rigors of the Franco-Prussian war to emerge as one of the most important impressionist artists of her time. Join us as Paula discusses her novel, which will include a stunning visual presentation of Morisot’s works. La Luministe won the Chanticleer Book Reviews first place for historical fiction. Paula earned her MFA in Professional Writing from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. Later, she worked as a story analyst for United Artists where, again, she came across few stories about women. But later, in the process of developing and teaching college courses about women in the arts, she discovered a trove of fascinating and accomplished women. Information about these artists was sketchy but so tantalizing that she felt compelled to write about them. Paula lives with her husband and daughter in Portland and on the Oregon coast.
