CANNON BEACH, OR — Celebrate the launch of Jane Kirkpatrick’s newest historical novel, Across the Crying Sands, with two special author talks on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Kirkpatrick will speak first at 2:00 p.m. at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, and again at 5:30 p.m. at the Cannon Beach Library. Both events are free and open to the public, presented in partnership between the two host organizations.
Across the Crying Sands is inspired by the true story of Mary Edwards Gerritse, a bold and resilient homesteader who became the first female mail carrier along Oregon’s rugged coastline in the late 19th century. From grief and loss to courage and adventure, Kirkpatrick paints a powerful portrait of a woman who found healing and purpose traversing cliffside trails and Crying Sands Beach.
Jane Kirkpatrick is a New York Times and CBA bestselling author of more than forty books. Her numerous awards include the WILLA Literary Award, the Carol Award for Historical Fiction, and multiple Will Rogers Gold Medallion Awards. She will be joined at the museum talk by Wheeler poet Dana Huneke-Stone, whose poetry appears throughout the trilogy.
Both author talks are free, though donations to the host organizations are encouraged to help continue offering engaging literary and cultural events to the community.
Event Locations:
📍 Cannon Beach History Center & Museum – 1387 S Spruce St, Cannon Beach, OR at 2:00 p.m.
