Author Eileen Garvin will kick off the Cannon Beach Library’s 2022-23 NW Authors Series on Saturday, September 24th at 2 p.m. She will discuss her national bestseller “The Music of Bees.” Described as uplifting, enchanting, and poignant, this story weaves together the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the art of beekeeping as three unlikely friends learn how to start over.

Eileen Garvin lives in Hood River, Oregon. Her debut novel, The Music of Bees, was a national bestseller. Garvin’s acclaimed memoir, How to Be a Sister, was published in 2010 and will be released in audio in September 2022. The Music of Bees was named a Good Morning America Buzz Pick, a Good Housekeeping Book Club Pick, a People Magazine Best New Book, a Christian Science Monitor Pick, a Library Reads Pick, a Washington Post Best Summer Read, an IndieNext Pick, and more. Garvin’s essays have appeared with Medium, The OregonianPsychologyToday.com,and Creative Non-Fiction Magazine. Eileen and her husband share their home with one fearless calico, a passionate mutt, four chickens, and about sixty thousand honeybees.

The library’s NW Authors Series showcases writers of the Pacific Northwest. Authors read from their works and participate in discussions in interview format and with the audience. These events are free and open to the public. This season is also the launch of hybrid events, specifically tailored to blend live viewing and live streaming. To join the presentation from home, go to the library’s Facebook page  – www.facebook.com/cannonbeachlibrary – or visit www.cannonbeachlibrary.org and click the banner at the top of the page.
