Check Out

The opportunity to get a library card is available to everyone, both residents and non-residents. A library card provides service to a family, including parents and children under the age of 18. The full range of library services is available to our library card holders for only $10.00 per year.  You can purchase a library card online or pick up an application at the front desk. Students and children under the age of 17 who reside in the area are eligible for free cards to check out books only (no DVDs).

Check Out Limit: 10 items, including 2 new (“green dot”) books and 4 DVDs. New (“green dot”) books may not be renewed. All other books may be renewed 3 times. DVDs may be renewed 1 time.

Manage My Account

Library patrons can log in to Destiny Discover, our online site, to manage their own accounts.

When redirected to the Destiny Discover site, log in at the top right corner. You will need your patron number and password. Once logged in, click “My Stuff” at the top of the page. From here you can view current checkouts, history, holds, favorites, fines, and renewals. Log in to Destiny Discover

Place a Hold

There are three ways to place a hold.

  1. Log in to your patron account online: Follow the instructions above to log in to Destiny Discover. Search for what you want then click “Hold”
  2. Call the library (503-436-1391) and speak to a desk volunteer.
  3. Email the office (info@cannonbeachlibrary.org). Email must include the title, format, and author’s name.

Patrons will be contacted by phone when holds are ready; holds may be picked up during open hours. Holds may not be processed the same day they are requested. Ready holds that are not picked up within one week will be reshelved.

Renew

For quick renewals, follow the instructions above to log in to your patron account online. Once logged in, click “My Stuff” at the top of the page. You can also call or email us – include your name and the title you want to renew. Materials may be returned in the outside drop box anytime. We are a fine-free library.

If you are looking for mouse and keyboard alternatives, speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking may help you navigate web pages and online services. This software allows the user to move focus around a web page or application screen through voice controls.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, there are several accessibility features available to you.

Closed Captioning
Closed captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments. Most of our website’s video content includes automated captions. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Volume Controls
Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features. Each video and audio service has its own additional volume controls. Try adjusting both your device’s volume controls and your media players’ volume controls to optimize your listening experience.
