The Cannon Beach Library is sponsoring a summer reading program called “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” for pre-k to young adults. The program kicks off Wednesday, June 15 with summer reading bag and FREE BOOK pick-up beginning at 12 p.m. and a story time at 2 p.m. “We’ve planned a wonderful program for the local kids. They’ll be allowed to record any amount of reading in their log books. Maybe it’s a book or just a paragraph – the idea is to get them reading something every day,” said Jen Dixon, the library’s Office Manager. “We hope to encourage a love of reading, and for local families to discover what’s available at our library.”

Participants will keep track of every day they read and prizes will be awarded for every 7 days of reading. At the culmination, participants will earn tickets for the grand prize drawing. During the 10 week program, the library will also host a range of free activities. Themed events include a 2 p.m. Story Time June 15th, July 13th, and August 24th; Go Birding! Program July 11th; and an author program August 24th.

The library is committed to supporting reading for all families. Participants can register online or at the library any time. To learn more about the summer reading program, please visit the library’s website www.cannonbeachlibrary.org or call 503-436-1391.

Closed Captioning
Closed captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments. Most of our website’s video content includes automated captions. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Volume Controls
Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features. Each video and audio service has its own additional volume controls. Try adjusting both your device’s volume controls and your media players’ volume controls to optimize your listening experience.
