The library is the place to be for Summer Reading fun, prizes, and special events! For our theme, “Read, Renew, Repeat,” we’ll be encouraging summer readers to think about conservation, environmental awareness, and wildlife stewardship.

How does it work? Participants from pre-k to young adult can track their daily reading (no rules, just read!), earn badges and prizes for every 7 days of reading, and then enter monthly raffles for BIGGER prizes! We’ve lined up special programs for the entire summer.

Saturday June 22nd 11 a.m.– Kickoff party, art, and kids planting program. Register for Summer Reading – receive a FREE BOOK and “Read, Renew, Repeat” drawstring back pack! Readers will decorate their own pot from recycled materials, plant watercress, and learn how to grow and eat their work (materials provided).

July – July is Ocean Animals Month at the library! Come to the library to read books and magazines. Finish a scavenger hunt in the library and receive a prize.

  • Friday, July 12th, 2 p.m. – Join staff from the Seaside Aquarium to learn about sea creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Saturday August 3rd 2 p.m. – Bilingual story time and crafting. Come make ocean animal collages!

Saturday August 24th 2 p.m. – Program, story time, songs, music, and seahorse puppet crafting with children’s author Sara Behrman.

Raffles for large prizes will be held on July 12th, August 3rd, and August 24th.

You don’t have to live locally to participate! We will mail prizes to winners who can’t pick them up.

Closed Captioning
Closed captioning provides a transcript for the audio track of a video presentation that is synchronized with the video and audio tracks. Captions are generally visually displayed over the video, which benefits people who are deaf and hard of hearing, and anyone who cannot hear the audio due to noisy environments. Most of our website’s video content includes automated captions. Learn how to turn captioning on and off in YouTube.

Volume Controls
Your computer, tablet, or mobile device has volume control features. Each video and audio service has its own additional volume controls. Try adjusting both your device’s volume controls and your media players’ volume controls to optimize your listening experience.
